Yes, because both processes use different algorythms and perform different operation to achieve the same results: setting SMBC in sync.

  • The main difference between autoresync and initialization is that autoresync needs to process data where initialization mainly transfer data.
  • During autoresync a lot of internal information [Data Warehouse] needs update and a continue conversation between the two clusters needs to happen before the snapmirror is in sync.
  • There are instances where autoresync can be faster than initialization: where there is a little amount of data to compare.
