Applies to

  • ONTAP 9

Answer

  • Yes, there is a limit on the number of supported intercluster LIFs
  • Up to 8 intercluster LIFs are supported, per node
  • On a node with 8 intercluster LIFs in the default IPspace, adding an additional intercluster LIF might display the following message:

LIF would exceed the maximum number of intercluster LIFs in IPSpace "Default" on node [node name]

  • On a node with 8 intercluster LIFs in the default IPspace, adding an additional intercluster LIF to a custom IPspace does not display the error

Note:  The intercluster LIF limit is not enforced in the non-default IPspace, but nodes with more than 8 intercluster LIFs in total are in an unsupported configuration

Additional Information

If more than 8 intercluster LIFs per node are needed, please contact your NetApp sales representative to request an ONTAP enhancement.
