Is SnapMirror scheduled update queued if schedule starts while previous update is still running?
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- SnapMirror
Answer
Yes, the scheduled update is queued if the update schedule starts while a previous update is still running.
Note: The queue mentioned in this KB is not the same as the Queued state seen with the snapmirror show command for the SnapMirror relationship. Here, the queue simply means that the snapmirror scheduled update job is waiting.
Additional Information
- When the scheduled update is queued,
smc.snapmir.schd.trans.overrunwill occur. - Once the current update is completed, the queued update will automatically execute.
- The queue can hold only one scheduled update at a time.
- If a new scheduled update is initiated before the previous update is completed, the queue will discard the old scheduled update job.
- No events or alerts occurs for the discarded old update job.
