Failed to create Snapshot copy due to SnapMirror Active Sync relationships failover

Issue

  • The Source cluster lost power
  • SnapMirror was replicating data in a Fan-Out configuration then changed to Cascade configuration
  • The Source cluster changed to Destination cluster
  • SNAPMIRROR.XML log suddenly started generating on the Source cluster
  • SNAPMIRROR.XML log on the Source cluster contains SnapMirror relationships with attributes:
    • SnapMirror Policy: AutomatedFailOver
    • SnapMirror Policy Type: automated-failover
    • Relationship Status: InSync
    • Relationship Group Type: consistencygroup
  • The Destination cluster reports transfer error:
    Failed to create Snapshot copy snapshotName on volume svmDest:volDest.
    The source of this SnapMirror Relationship is part of a destination Synchronous Consistency Group relationship. Cascade configuration is not supported.
