Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • Cluster Peer Encryption
  • SnapMirror

Answer

  • This feature is enabled by default since ONTAP 9.6.
  • Because of the processing overhead of encryption, it will consume a bit of CPU but should not have much impact if there is headroom.
  • It will not impact the speed of SnapMirror transferring.

Additional Information

  • You can check using statistics show-periodic -node before and after enabling encryption to see how much influence it has on the performance.
  • It is an optional setting not a MUST.
