Issue

After upgrading the SnapMirror source cluster to ONTAP 9.16.1P8, SnapMirror updates can fail with the following error: The replication engine encountered an error during decompressing data
This issue has been observed in environments where:

  • The source system is using the zlib compression algorithm
  • The source system is a QAT‑enabled platform
  • Destination system is non‑QAT and has data compaction disabled
  • Both source and destination are running ONTAP 9.16.1P8 (or destination on earlier ONTAP versions)
