Issue

  • An ONTAP cluster is the source for a fanout snapmirror, with one common source and two separate snapmirror destinations.
  • The snapmirror source fans out to one asynchronous snapmirror destination, as well as another synchronous snapmirror destination.
  • SnapMirror configured in a SnapMirror Synchronous to SnapMirror Async fanout, or SnapMirror Active Sync (SM-as, formerly SMBC) SnapMirror Async fanout, can see sporadic failures associated with "invalid base snapshot" errors.
  • The errors can resolve themselves on retry, but can also interrupt 3rd party application workflows prior to subsequent retries.
