  • ONTAP 9
  • NDMP
  • CommVault

Issue

  • A NDMP restore fails for indirect topology, Vserver scope setup where Source NetApp Storage is connected to Commvault and  Target NetApp Storage.
  • NDMP Dump is working fine from Source to Target storage but restore fails.
  • Source is connected to Commvault using Intercluster LIF.
  • On Source, a HOST entry in CommVault server’s host file was added to point to Intercluster LIF when using the FQDN of the SVM instead of the Data LIF and the restore is successful from Source to Target but fails from Target to Source.
  • Target is connected to Commvault using FQDN which converts to data LIF on the cluster.
