Applies to

  • ONTAP 9

Description

  • Clustered Data ONTAP has different roles for Logical Interfaces (LIFs)
  • There are 2 NDMP scopes: ‘node-scope’ and ‘Vserver-scope
    • Node-scope is per node and is configured much like NDMP in Data ONTAP 7-Mode
    • Vserver-scope is per Vserver and is matched to the virtual servers
  • Not all cluster resources will be available through NDMP
  • The NDMP 'scope,' along with the LIF type, will have a significant impact on the availability of NDMP resources
  • Depending on the type of LIF used for NDMP backup, it could be observed that the backups on a certain node fail while backups on another node may work fine
