Answer

  • Moving a volume to a different node and aggregate does not impact NDMP level-based incremental backup
  • If a full or incremental backup has already been run on a volume, moving the volume to a new node and aggregate does not break the incremental backup chain
  • Moving the volume to a new node and aggregate does not require running a new full backup

Note:  The above only applies to a cluster in the default NDMP SVM Scope, for a Data management Application (DMA) that support NDMP Cluster Aware Backup (CAB) extension, and can negotiate a cluster-aware backup.
