Issue

The following issue can be seen when using VAAI plugin to convert thick provisioned lazy zeroed disks to thick provisioned eager zeroed:

  • A custom SQL VM template is used to create the VM initially with thick provisioned lazy zeroed disks
  • After the VM is deployed, editing the VM settings and changing the disk type to thick provisioned eager zeroed is successful
  • When adding new disks to the VM as thick provisioned eager zeroed, the process completes and is successful
  • Converting the disk type from thick provisioned lazy zeroed to thick provisioned eager zeroed using SvMotion also works
  • But when deploying new VMs with the custom SQL VM template and selecting thick provisioned eager zeroed, the VM is deploy but with thick provisioned lazy zeroed
