Storage Unit create by SVM admin using CLI fails with error "No candidate aggregates are available for storage services"

  • ONTAP Tools for VMware (OTV), SnapCenter or other applications using POST /api/storage/luns REST API to create Storage Unit

Issue

  • Creation of Storage unit (SU) by Storage Virtual Machine (SVM) admin using CLI fails with error No candidate aggregates are available for storage services: (system default).
  • After SVM (or Vserver) admin logs in using vsadmin user credentials and tries to create a SU using the "lun create" command, it fails.

::> lun create -path lun1 -size 5g -ostype windows
[Job 70] Job is queued.

Error: command failed: No candidate aggregates are available for storage services: (system default).
