Issue

When attempting to add a NetApp ASA-A20 (ONTAP 9.16.1) system to Veeam Backup & Replication v12, the connection fails

Error Message:

  • “Failed to connect to host Netapp.domain.local”

Relevant Log/Context:

  • All required network ports are open
  • Ping and telnet tests to the cluster management LIF are successful
  • Authentication failures are reported if incorrect credentials are used, indicating network and protocol reachability
  • Issue persists after enabling ONTAPI (ZAPI) on a data SVM
