SCV discovery job fails with NullPointerException due to connection timeout

Issue

  • Backup job fails with error:
Unable to discover resources on SCV: Storage discovery failed, received error during operation: java.lang.NullPointerException. Please refer to operation logs for more details.
  • vmcontrol_<JOB_ID>.log reports error:

DEBUG <SCV host> --- [qtp474675244-13] c.n.a.v.VsphereService                   : [JobId:<JOB_ID>] NVPF vSphere session is NULL, can't get vSphere service instance using null session!
DEBUG <SCV host> --- [qtp474675244-13] c.n.a.m.DatastoreStorageDetailsCache     : JobId + <JOB_ID> count reduced to 0, removing from cache
ERROR <SCV host> --- [qtp474675244-13] c.n.a.s.p.DiscoverResourcesManager       : [JobId:<JOB_ID>] Storage discovery failed, received error during operation: java.lang.NullPointerException. Please refer to operation logs for more details.

  • vmcontrol.log reports error:
