"SnapCenter repository is not accessible. Error: Bad handshake" alert after upgrading SnapCenter to 5.0

Issue

  • After upgrading SC to 5.0 the following alert is seen in the Alerts tab in the SC UI:

Alert Name:  Audit logging failed
Severity:  Critical
Entity Type: SnapCenter Server
Entity Name: <SC_Host_FQDN>
Status:   New
Time:   02/01/2024 2:30:01 PM
Job Id:   Not applicable
Description: SnapCenter repository is not accessible. Error: Bad handshake

  • This alert is false as the SC repository is accessible and backups continue to work.
  • The following error is seen in the MYSQL error log - C:\ProgramData\NetApp\SnapCenter\MySQL Data\Data\SC.err where "SC" is the name of the SC server:

[Warning] [MY-013360] [Server] Plugin mysql_native_password reported: ''mysql_native_password' is deprecated and will be removed in a future release. Please use caching_sha2_password instead'
