Applies to

  • NetApp SnapCenter Server (all versions)
  • SQL Server plug-in for SnapCenter
  • Windows Server (hosting SQL and SnapCenter plug-in)
  • Environments using iSCSI SAN connectivity for SQL data volumes

Issue

  • When attempting to clone a SQL Database using SnapCenter, the clone operation fails during the filesystem clone stage. The following errors are observed in SnapCenter job logs:

    Log Output:

ERROR SCW_xxxxx PID=[6768] TID=[102] Failed to get disk information [81HSx?TCFqjk]. Please check if there is SAN connectivity between the host/hypervisor and storage controller.

ERROR SMCore_xxxxx PID=[9656] TID=[24] ErrorCode(-1), ErrorMessage(Failed to mount disk 81HSx?TCFqjk to mount point [C:\\scmnpt\\mpdisk0075\\]. Failed to add access path to the partition. Details: Failed to get disk information [81HSx?TCFqjk]. Please check if there is SAN connectivity between the host/hypervisor and storage controller.)

  • Interestingly the same SQL server is able to clone same database from another SnapMirror Destination SVM fine.

      Symptoms:

  • SQL clone job fails during filesystem clone/mount stage.
  • The same SQL server can successfully clone from another SnapMirror destination SVM but fails from the newly created SnapMirror destination volume in the SnapMirror source SVM  .
  • All backups on the new volume fail to clone.
  • SnapCenter cannot discover or mount disks associated with the new volume.
