Applies to

  • NetApp SnapCenter Server 6.2.2
  • NetApp SnapCenter Plug-in for Microsoft Windows 6.2.2
  • NetApp SnapCenter Plug-in for Microsoft SQL Server 6.2.2
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2022
  • Microsoft SQL Server Failover Cluster Instance (FCI)
  • NetApp Data ONTAP 9.X

Issue

  • After upgrading SnapCenter Server and Windows/SQL plug-ins to version 6.2.2, backups for a SQL Failover Cluster Instance (FCI) running on Windows Server 2022 become unreliable
  • The SnapDrive service on the node holding the cluster role becomes unstable and stops, causing backups (full and transaction log) to fail after some time
  • Backups run successfully for a period after restarting the SnapCenter services, but eventually stop working
  • Event logs show .Net Runtime errors and SnapDrive service crashes
  • Attempts to reinstall plug-ins or use different .NET versions (e.g., 10.0.9, 10.0.7) do not resolve the issue
  • This issue is only observed on Windows Server 2022 SQL FCI clusters; Windows Server 2019 clusters are unaffected
