SCV restore fails to create the volume clone

Issue

  • SCV restore fails to create the volume clone with following error seen in the Job details:

Unable to mount datastore failed to create lun clone:no input ESX initiator lds

  • The adapter type is FCP and SCV fails to find it and then tries iSCSI with the errors:

Aggregate <aggr_name> not found. Reason: entry doesn't exist.
DEBUG snapctrprd.pais.corp --- [     Thread-537] c.n.a.m.VmfsMountStrategy                : retry with different adapter type:ISCSI
DEBUG snapctrprd.pais.corp --- [     Thread-537] c.n.a.m.VmfsMountStrategy                : AdapterType(): ISCSI
DEBUG snapctrprd.pais.corp --- [     Thread-537] c.n.a.m.VmfsMountStrategy                : mount as iscsi: 
ERROR snapctrprd.pais.corp --- [     Thread-537] c.n.a.m.VmfsMountStrategy                : [JobId:40549] Failed to create LUN clone : No input ESX initiator Ids

or

Error: Unable to mount datastores: <volume> in Backup: ####.Failed to create volume clone for volume xx.xx.xx.xx:/vol/volume: Failed to create the volume clone. Aggregate <aggregate> not found. Reason: entry doesn't exist.
