SCSQL verification fails when local user is used  as credential

Applies to

  • SnapCenter Plug-in for Microsoft SQL Server (SCSQL)
  • Using Administrator (not DOMAIN\Administrator) as a credential for verification host

Issue

  • SCSQL verification after backup job fails
  • The following is the notification email:

Backup [Warning] for Resource Group [<RESOURCE GROUP>] with Policy [<POLICY>] on primary
The backup job <JOB_ID> has completed on primary.
Status: Warning
Error: Backup succeeded but verification failed.

  • SnapManagerWeb_<JOB_ID>.log shows error:

ERROR SnapManagerWeb_<JOB_ID> PID=[<PID>] TID=[<TID>] System.InvalidOperationException: Cannot open Service Control Manager on computer '<VERIFICATION HOST>'. This operation might require other privileges. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: Access is denied
