SCO Backup fails with SP2-0640: Not connected or showing time stamps in prompt

Issue

Backup have started to fail for specific Oracle SIDs on certain hosts, with the following summary message:
 
PL-SCO-20032: canExecute operation failed with error: ORACLE-00001: Error executing SQL: []. The command returned: SP2-0640: Not connected
 
Additionally, or alternatively, the output in the SPL log from the Job shows a time stamp in the return prompt:
