Issue

  • SCE backup operations are failing with error, “Cannot exceed maximum number of Snapshot copies” on the storage controller volume housing the Exchange log files.
  • Error seen in SMCore_XXXX.log on the Exchange host with the failed backup :
Snapshot operation failed for some of the volumes [Storage System:
<SVM_NAME>]
Snapshot copy operation failed for volume <VOLUME_NAME>. Reason: Cannot exceed
maximum number of Snapshot copies.
Snapshot operation failed for some of the volumes [Storage System:
<SVM_NAME>]
