Issue

  • Multiple login failures for the NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM account shown in SQL ERRORLOG as well as in Windows Application Event viewer

Logon       Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 38
Logon       Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM'. Reason: Failed to open the explicitly specified database '<database_name>'. [CLIENT: <local machine>]

  • Backups are successful but will take longer than usual.
