Applies to

  • NetApp SnapCenter
  • NetApp ONTAP
  • Windows hosts using SnapCenter credentials
  • ONTAP SVM credentials used by SnapCenter

Issue

  • A user account configured for use with SnapCenter is repeatedly locked, which can result in SnapCenter job failures and authentication-related security alerts.
  • ONTAP event logs show repeated failed authentication attempts similar to:
Message: security.invalid.login: Failed to authenticate login attempt to Vserver: svm1, username: snapcenter_user, application: ontapi.
  • When the affected account becomes locked, SnapCenter operations using that credential may fail because authentication to the storage system cannot be completed.
