Issue

  • After upgrading SQL server to Server 2022, the database backup fails.
  • Error at quiesce stage and affects all SQL 2022 databases:

ERROR SMCore_1011049 PID=[4416] TID=[35] Activity - Freeze database(s), Failed with error : Resource (<database_path>) failed with error (Failed to backup database [<database>]. Error: Cannot open backup device '49505422-3F96-4DEC-A4C7-5A13F3D7E87B'. Operating system error 0x80770006(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105).
BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.GetConfiguration timed out.).

  • Log backup run successfully.
  • Backups run by SQL itself also complete successfully.
  • Databases are not corrupted.
