"Validate License" Prompt Appears During Backup Operations in SnapCenter 4.x

  • SnapCenter Server 4.x
  • SnapCenter Server 5.x and later
  • FAS and AFF systems with SnapCenter Standard licensing
  • Environments operating multiple SnapCenter versions

Issue

  • A customer observes that a"Validate License" prompt appears before backup or Snapshot operations on one SnapCenter server running SnapCenter 4.x, while other SnapCenter servers running 5.0 later do not display the prompt.

Example:

Site SnapCenter Version Behavior
Site A 4.9 Displays "Validate License" prompt
Site B 5.0 No prompt displayed
Site C 6.0 No prompt displayed
Backup operations complete successfully after the validation step and no licensing errors are reported.
Symptoms:
  • SnapCenter displays a"Validate License" prompt before starting a backup or Snapshot operation.
  • Backup jobs complete successfully after validation.
  • No license-related errors are reported in SnapCenter.
  • SnapCenter servers 5.0 later may not display the same prompt.
  • Administrators may believe the prompt indicates a licensing problem due to inconsistent behavior between sites
