The Management LAN is 172.16.xx.xx, and each node's management LIF is connected to it. The Backup LAN is 192.168.xx.xx, and an intercluster LIF is connected to it. The backup server has an IP address on the Backup LAN subnet. However, both the Backup server and ONTAP can communicate via both networks. Although the preference is to use the Backup LAN, the NDMP backup transfers data using the Management LAN.
