Issue

This knowledge base article clarifies the Adobe Flash deprecation impact on OnCommand System Manager 3.1.3 and offers available mitigations.

NetApp OnCommand System Manager 3.1.3 is the element management tool for NetApp storage systems that run NetApp ONTAP data management software versions earlier than 8.3. Adobe will end support for Flash Player on December 31, 2020 and will block Flash content from running in Flash Player beginning January 12, 2021. As a result, Adobe Flash support will be removed from web browsers. For more information, refer to Adobe Flash Player EOL General Information Page.

Impact

NetApp OnCommand System Manager 3.1.3 depends on Adobe Flash Player to draw the graphs in various pages. If a browser lacks Flash support, some of the graphical representations displayed in the web UI will not work as intended.

Note: The impact of this Adobe Flash support deprecation is limited only to the OnCommand System Manager 3.1.3. It does not affect the OnCommand System Manager 8.3 and later versions or ONTAP System Manager 9.7 and later versions.
