Applies to

  • Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO)
  • Microsoft Azure
  • RW volumes converted from DP volumes by snapmirror break

Answer

  • In CVO, RW volumes converted from DP volumes have volume efficiency disabled by default.
  • When volume efficiency is enabled, only Data Compaction is enabled.
  • Since efficiency settings may vary depending on the environment and other factors, use volume efficiency show -instance to verify the detailed configuration

Example:

::> volume efficiency show -instance
...
                                      Compression: false
                               Inline Compression: false
                          Storage Efficiency Mode: default
                               Constituent Volume: false
                                    Inline Dedupe: false
                                  Data Compaction: true
                Cross Volume Inline Deduplication: false
            Cross Volume Background Deduplication: false
                         Extended Compressed Data: true
