Description

This knowledge base article provides a comprehensive overview of the step-by-step procedure for replacing the NVRAM disk for Cloud Volumes ONTAP.

Procedure

To replace the NVRAM disk in CVO, follow these steps:

  1. Stop both instances from the Azure portal.
  2. Access the Azure console and change the NVRAM disk type for both VMs.
  3. Once the NVRAM disk type is changed for both VMs, start Node 1 VM and observe if it boots up properly.
  4. Verify the boot process through the serial console to ensure normal functioning.
  5. If Node 1 boots up normally, proceed to start Node 2 as well.

Note:

  • These steps should be followed in the specified order to ensure a successful replacement of the NVRAM disk in CVO and please ensure the disk size remains same.
  • As a good practice, it is recommended to make the changes by halting both nodes to avoid any unforeseen issues. However, it is fine to make the changes on one node at a time.
