Cloud Volumes ONTAP

Description

At times it may be necessary to redeploy an Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO) cluster within the AWS cloud provider.

Procedure

From within the AWS EC2 service console select the instance corresponding to the cluster node you want to redeploy (move to another host).
  • From the Instance State pull down menu select "Stop Instance".
  • Leave the instance in the stopped state for 7-10 minutes.
  • From the Instance State pull down menu select "Start Instance".

Additional Information

Stopping an instance that is a single node cluster results in a total outage during the time the instance is stopped. Stopping an instance of a HA cluster should result in a takeover by the partner node as long as there are no hardware or software faults/errors that prevent the takeover.
