CVO upgrade failed due to dNS resolution issues
Applies to
Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO)
Issue
During an upgrade attempt of Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO), the process failed due to DNS resolution issues. The following error was observed in the logs:
Sun Jun 01 04:35:54 -0400 [NetAppCVOUSE2-02: secd: secd.dns.server.timed.out: error]: DNS server 10.104.66.50 did not respond to vserver=admin Vserver within timeout interval.
Sun Jun 01 04:35:54 -0400 [NetAppCVOUSE2-02: secd: secd.dns.server.timed.out: error]: DNS server 10.104.66.50 did not respond to vserver=admin Vserver within timeout interval.
Cause
The DNS server did not respond within the timeout interval, causing the upgrade process to fail.
Solution
1. Ensure that iSCSI data LIFs are created on both nodes
2. Perform a failover test to verify that iSCSI LIFs move correctly between nodes and that clients can access LUNs without interruption.
3. As a temporary workaround, restarting the nodes, the connector, and the CVO nodes resolved the DNS resolution issues, allowing the upgrade to complete successfully.
