  • Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO)
  • Cloud Tiering
  • FabricPool
  • Azure Blob Storage

Answer

  • Changing the tiering policy from All to Auto does not automatically move data from object storage (BLOB) back to disk.
  • Data is rehydrated from BLOB to disk only when it is read, and only the accessed blocks are returned.
  • Under the Auto policy, rehydrated or newly written data is treated as hot data and remains on disk until it becomes inactive for the period defined by tiering-minimum-cooling-days, after which it may be tiered back to object storage.
