Unable to create volumes or volume snapshot using System Manager on NetApp Console

Issue

  • When attempting to create a volume or volume snapshot for an already discovered on-premises ONTAP cluster from System Manager on NetApp Console:

Error:{ "error": { "message": "not authorized for that command", "code": "6" } }

  • ONTAP audit logs show POST API calls failing with the errors below:

POST /api/protocols/nfs/export-policies : {"name":"export-svmcifsransom-ransom2","svm":{"name":"svmcifsransom"},"rules":[]} :: Error: Forbidden
POST /api/storage/volumes/257e7c75-2869-11f1-a6aa-d039eaa959a4/snapshots : ["X-Dot-Client-App: SMc"] {"name":"snap.2026-03-26_134627"} :: Error: Forbidden
