  • Environments: Using NetApp as a Cinder backend

Issue

  • When using OpenStack with NetApp as a Cinder backend, VM creation and Cinder snapshot operations fail once a NetApp volume reaches the maximum supported LUN count (1024 per volume).
  • This results in downtime or inability to provision new VMs or Cinder snapshots.

ERROR cinder.volume.manager [..] Failed to create LUN: Maximum LUN count reached on volume vol_lun_issue
