Data Sense "No data was fetched" error

Issue

Installation of Data Sense in an on-prem shows no errors in the installation logs. 
 
However, when starting Data Sense, then entering respective work environment,  errant behaviour is seen:
 
No data was fetched
 
From the connector SERVER.LOG we see

No data is shown in any of the expected fields.
 
Restarting of the Data Sense instance may show a temporary operation, but it will soon fail again as seen above.
