CVO is down due to the Instance reachability check failed

Issue

  • CVO ONTAP Single node system is down. Below is the error message in the AWS console:
Instance reachability check failed
  • From the AWS system log, we see the system is in the rolling boot with the below string:
PANIC  : must hold domain lock
version: 9.1: Thu Dec 22 15:21:04 PST 2016
conf   : x86_64.ovf
cpuid = 0
Uptime: 1s
  • Stop and Start of the VM failed with Instance reachability check failed
  • Changing the instance type to a higher version (m4.4xlarge) failed with Instance reachability check failed
