AWS S3 shows larger usage than seen from the ONTAP cluster

Issue

A tiered aggregate shows the following usage as seen from the ONTAP cluster:

From the AWS portal, there is a significant additional usage in the attached object store that can not be seen in any manner from ONTAP:

The observed difference was noted as 727.6TB (AWS view) - 468TB (ONTAP view) = 259.6TB of unaccounted for usage in the AWS S3 bucket.
