Functionally, there are only two differences:

  1. LUN creation:
    • ontap-san: Creates one LUN per FlexVol volume
    • ontap-san-economy: Creates multiple LUNs within a single FlexVol volume
  2. Supported protocols:
    • ontap-san: iSCSI, SCSI over FC, NVMe/TCP
    • ontap-san-economy: iSCSI only
