Answer

  • A Kubernetes cluster can have exactly one running instance of Trident.
  • When working with multiple Kubernetes clusters, users can install Trident on each Kubernetes cluster and consume storage from a NetApp backend.
  • For ONTAP backends, NetApp recommends storage admins maintain a separate SVM per Kubernetes cluster.
  • Each Kubernetes cluster can have multiple ONTAP backends using the same SVM for the same protocol.
