Applies to

  • Trident for Kubernetes and Openshift
  • provisioned ONTAP volumes set to auto-grow

Issue

When the volume reached the threshold causing ONTAP to grow the volume to provide extra space, which happens when most ontap-nas-economy qtrees run full, or when the accounting is not done on logical but pn physical usage.

After some time, the volume size is reset to only represent the sum of the quotas set from Trident (pv sizes), including the snap reserve as extra space, when defined.
This can cause an ONTAP volume full condition when physical accounting it done.
