FSX Trident Backend Not Created Automatically via StorageClass

Applies to

  • Trident version 26.02.0 and  above
  • Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP
  • Kubernetes clusters (including EKS)
  • StorageClass-based automatic backend (TBC) creation

Issue

  • When attempting to use a Kubernetes StorageClass to automatically trigger Trident BackendConfig (TBC) creation for Amazon FSx forNetApp ONTAP, the backend is not created.
  • The following error is observed inthe Trident controller logs:

K8S helper could not process the storage class attributecredentialsName

error="unrecognized storage attribute:credentialsName"

...

No backends currently satisfy provided storageclass.

Storageclass satisfied by 0 storage pools.
