Vscan server disconnected and no disconnect reason mentioned even though Vscan configured correctly

Issue

  • Vscan server shows disconnected and no disconnect reason mentioned when running the following command:

cluster1::> vserver vscan connection-status show-not-connected -vserver svm1 -instance

                               Node: node1
                            Vserver: svm1
                             Server: 4.4.4.4
                      Server Status: disconnected
           Server Disconnect Reason: -    

  • Ping is successful between Vserver data LIF and Vscan server
  • ONTAP AV connector service is running from Vscan server and its able to poll the data LIFs.
  • ONTAP AV Connector logs:
02/06/20-05:43:09.457Z [Pipe: -> svm1 node1][r] Waiting for scanner to register before opening the pipe
02/06/20-05:43:09.738Z [Pipe: -> svm1 node1][r] Waiting for scanner to register before opening the pipe
  •  For some vendors, e.g. Sophos, prompt to choose the filer mode on installation of the vendor-specific NetApp software is displayed
    • Error  occurs if 7-mode was selected in setup of vscan against cluster-mode or ONTAP system.
