Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • Clustered Data ONTAP
  • Data ONTAP operating in 7-Mode
  • CIFS Home Directories
  • User profiles can be in used in VDI (Hyper-V) or Citrix Home Profiles using folder redirection.

Issue

  • Higher than expected CIFS "other" protocol latency. High Latency due to Data Processing delays (Dblade).
  • Primary CIFS operations impacted will include readdir, open, close, getattr, lookups.
  • If OCUM is in use, the delay will show up as "data processing" coupled with high Other Latency. Typically reported in the 100's of milliseconds range.
  • Single volume user directory count and data layout may have stale user folders or is a deep \ wide directory structure containing many thousands of users.
