Issue

  • Error reported when attempting to open a Microsoft Office document  that it is in use by 'another user'.
  • This behavior seems to be most common with Microsoft Excel.
  • Variations of the error may include but are not limited to
    • "This file is locked for editing"
    • Microsoft Office document (ie, Excel or Word file) <filename> is locked for editing by 'Microsoft Office User'
    • <filename> is locked for editing by 'another user'.
    • <filename> is locked for editing by 'username'.
    • "This file is locked for editing by <username>
