Memory overutilization causes slow opening of directories on a CIFS share

Issue

Intermittently users may experience delays when opening directories in CIFS shares of 30+ seconds along with high other operation latency. Corresponding with this you will see utilization in Active IQ Unified Manager increase notably with no corresponding increase in workload:

EMS will also have sporadic low memory errors:

Wed Jul 28 02:59:09 -0500 [Node01: wafl_exempt06: wafl.memory.statusVeryLowMemory:alert]: WAFL is running very low on memory, with 5955MB remaining.

If SnapMirror is in play you may also have errors like the following:

Wed Jul 28 00:11:27 -0500 [Node01: worker_thread_698: repl.out.of.memory:notice]: SnapMirror replication transfer encountered an out-of-memory error.
