Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • Clustered Data ONTAP 8

Description

  • DNS lookups performed via the ONTAP CLI sometimes differ from those present in the configured DNS servers for a given SVM.
  • There may be an outdated entry in the cache, either because the old record's life time hasn't expired, or
  • DNS is not being reached out to. This may be brought about by having a manual configuration in place, in which case DNS will not be queried.

To view the current cache run:

Cluster ::*> vserver services name-service cache hosts forward-lookup show
