An empty dir cannot be deleted due to directory not empty

Issue

  • An empty directory seen from NFS clients cannot be deleted with following error: directory not empty.
rm: cannot remove ‘/mnt/nfs/dir1/dir2’: Directory not empty
  • Run ls -la on the Linux client, there aren't any files existing in that directory.
  • Run strace rm -rf dir on the Linux client and the output contains Directory not empty error as well.
