Is NAT supported with cluster peering or SnapMirror in ONTAP?
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- SnapMirror
Answer
No, Network Address Translation (NAT) is not supported with cluster peering or SnapMirror in ONTAP. When a cluster peer relationship is established between two clusters, the clusters share their local / private InterCluster LIF IP addresses in order to determine the necessary connections to be made and verify cluster peer health. This is also known as cluster peer address discovery. If there is a mismatch between the discovered IP addresses and the addresses that are reachable or configured by running the cluster peer create
command, the peering will fail or configured SnapMirror relationships will not work properly.
