- ONTAP 9
No, Network Address Translation (NAT) is not supported by ONTAP cluster peering, or SnapMirror.
- When a cluster peer relationship is established between two clusters, cluster peer address discovery occurs.
- Cluster peer address discovery is a process where clusters share their local / private InterCluster LIF IP addresses to determine the necessary connections to be made, as well as to verify cluster peer health.
- If there is a mismatch between the discovered IP addresses and the addresses that are reachable, or that are configured by running the
cluster peer createcommand, peering fails, and SnapMirror relationships will not work properly.
- Because it translates one network address to another, NAT will cause cluster peering to fail, and SnapMirror relationships to not work properly.
