Backup with cataloging under SCO fails with RMAN-04004 and ORA-01017 errors

Issue

When running a verification on an Oracle database Backup from SCO, shortly after starting up DBCC on the oracle instance, this output is seen:

Activity 'Cataloging Backup' failed with error: Cataloging backup failed for <ORA_SID> with below error.
For complete error refer logs. : com.netapp.oracle.core.exception.OracleCoreException:
ORACLE-00101: Error executing RMAN command: [
     CATALOG START WITH '/var/opt/snapcenter/sco/backup_mount/<SNAPSHOT_NAME>/.../archivelog/' NOPROMPT;].
The command returned:
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-04004: error from recovery catalog database: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
